The English learning activities provided in our school are not only confined to classrooms. We have endeavored to provide different activities and opportunities for students to get involved in an interactive learning environment. We regularly coordinate morning assemblies which are conducted in English. We also organize Creative Writing Competitions, Comic Strip Writing Competitions, Reading in Wonderland, Christmas English Fun Days and Summer Camps to provide students with opportunities of learning and using English through interesting and stimulating activities in an informal manner. These activities can provide a quasi-immersion environment to boost students’ motivation and confidence in learning English.
Reading Wonderland aims to encourage our students to cultivate their reading interest. It is open to all our students twice a week as a lunchtime reading activity. There are many English books available on a broad spectrum of themes and interests. A strong team of volunteer parent helpers and English ambassadors are involved in its operation and it has become part of the school routine for many young avid readers as they love reading together!
Our students are honoured to be invited as little writers of ‘How to Write’ series, which are books about good model essays written by primary students and useful writing skills. In this series, our students write a wide range of text types such as narratives, exchanges and informative texts. They are really great examples for local students who would like to boost their writing skills.
